MICMAC-FEA and MICMACv0.4 ready for download

MICMAC-FEA (release version 0.1) is ready for download in the "download utility" section. You need to install Abaqus student version in order to work with MICMAC-FEA and complete assignment for session 7 from the section by Jin W. Park. MicMac (version 0.4) is also available for download in this page.

Would you give me the instruction how to install Abaqus student version to work with MICMAC-FEA for home computer? Is it matter which install first? Are there need to install in same directory? How are they link together. Thanks

The computer in my office have full version Abaqus. MicMac-FEA work with it? How to setup they work together.

Even if the full version of Abaqus is present, you can independently install the student version too (you might want to omit installing the documentation for student version). The full and student versions act independently. MicMac-FEA as for now works with student version (version 7). It can be made usable with the full version with some modifications. However, the issue is the cae files that MicMac-FEA uses are produced using student version which are unusable with the full version.

ABAQUS installation

I've installed the sudent version of ABAQUS, but MicMacFEA gives an error of 'path not found'. What is the directory that ABAQUS should be installed in for MicMacFEA?

MicMac-FEA should be able to connect to Abaqus student version (version 6.7) irrespective of the directory of installment. If the Abaqus-SE version is different than 6.7 then please let us know.
As for a check you can input this command in the MS DOS command line:
abq672se.bat
If the window asks for an identifier, then the startup file for Abaqus-SE is working well. Try running both MicMac-FEA as well as Mic-Mac-Thick Cylinder. If you get the same error message, let us know.

Whether you install Abaqus SE

Whether you install Abaqus SE or Mic-Mac/FEA first doesn't matter.
Mic-Mac/FEA assumes that the executable name is "abq672se.bat" and that it is in the system path.

I'm guessing either 1. name of the executable has changed or 2. system path is not set up correctly.

Please check if the executable is abq672se.bat by right clicking on the Abaqus CAE icon. If it is not, please let us know.

To check if the path is setup correctly, from the control panel, go to the "system properties" -> "Advanced" tab -> "Environment Variable".
Under the System variables section, you will see variable named "path" in which the Abaqus folder should be listed (i.e. C:\Abaqus\Commands\).
If it is not there, you can add the Abaqus folder.
